Lilla Torg is renowned for its vibrant restaurant and bar scene, as well as its historic significance, boasting some of Malmö's oldest architectural treasures. Among these, there stands a beautifully preserved half-timbered house dating back to the 16th century, a source of inspiration that fueled this project.
This project revolves around a proposed logo for a charming town square in Malmö known as Lilla Torg. My choice of Lilla Torg was deeply rooted in cherished childhood memories associated with this place—vivid recollections of enchanting summer evenings spent at outdoor restaurants.
As the design progressed, I decided to retain the half-timbered grid but opted to remove the market goods, ultimately focusing on the enduring architectural charm of the buildings that still grace the square today.
The first source of inspiration for the logo was the old half-timbered houses and the historical market that once thrived on the town square. The initial sketch featured a circle adorned with a half-timbered grid, symbolizing the houses that encircled the bustling market at the square.
